SimpleMap 1.1 is coming, really!
For those of you waiting for the update, I’m sorry I didn’t get it finished over the weekend. I have been trying to solve the problem of large CSV imports stalling the browser, to no avail. Even though I’ve found a way to import large files extremely fast, it still has to process each line on its own in order to geocode it. It’s also looking like you will still need an API key, because the service Google provides to geocode from a database still requires an API key in version 3.
For now, I’ve put those two issues aside so that I can get the plugin released tonight. Everything else is done (or really, really close): support for international locations, more localization, descriptions, and custom categories. The descriptions will support HTML, so you should be able to insert images if you upload them yourself (with WordPress or FTP) and link to them with HTML.
I have more refinements planned, but this will be the only major feature addition for a while. I want to get this plugin in tip-top shape before I add anything else to it. I’m sure you would rather have a plugin that works flawlessly than a plugin that has a bunch of buggy features.
The update will come tonight. Right now I have to get ready for work!
